Today's trend is to wear pants low on
the hips unlike the conventional which almost hits the man’s tummy. It may be confusing to distinguish between
“low-rise” and “at the waist” which may baffle on finding one’s waistline.
How should a corporate gentleman wear
his pants?
For decades, it has been a practice that the waistband of men’s trousers has been headed towards the crotch for a
reason that is unidentifiable which could either be on the basis of a
perception that lower is sexier or it has something to do with economizing the
fabric.
However, pants can be rightfully called as trousers if it targets the navel which is primarily the waistband.
The “rise” is the trousers’ length from the inseam in the crotch to the
waistband.
The lowering of the rise was a European influence that started in the ’60s, but today’s generation
specifically the United States sets a low-rise standard of its own, which can be associated to that of a Filipino taste.
Come to think of it, low-rise may be
in as a comfortable choice in a casual mood but not as decent when it is worn
precisely on a formal function putting into one’s frame of mind that navel has been
there on its permanent position for a scientific reason, as a private eye.
